A quiet confession from behind the camera
This might surprise you, considering the work I do — but I don’t always find myself attractive.
I can see beauty so clearly in other women. Instantly. Effortlessly. But when it comes to myself? My brain zooms in on flaws, angles I don’t love, expressions that feel awkward or unfamiliar. I can be kind to everyone else… just not always to me.
And for a long time, I wondered if that made me a contradiction. Or worse — a fraud.
How can someone who photographs confidence struggle with her own?
Here’s what I’ve learned:
Most women who walk into my sessions don’t hate their bodies. They don’t think they’re “ugly.” They’re just not sure they’ll photograph well.
They worry about their face. Their smile. Their eyes. That one angle they’ve never liked.
Not because they lack confidence — but because cameras can feel confronting. Unkind. Final.
I understand that feeling deeply.
Why this actually makes me a better boudoir photographer
Because I know what it’s like to:
- trust someone else to see you clearly
- hope they’ll notice your good angles
- fear that the photos will confirm your worst thoughts
That awareness shapes everything I do.
I don’t rush. I don’t force expressions. I don’t expect you to perform confidence.
Instead, we collaborate. We talk. We laugh. We follow inspiration together. We find angles that feel like you — not a version you’re pretending to be.
I’m not here to convince you that you’re someone else. I’m here to show you what’s already there.
A moment that reminded me why this work matters
Recently, a woman came into her session excited and open — but quietly nervous about how her face would photograph.
During the shoot, she was confident, playful, completely herself.
When she saw her images for the first time, she told me she was shocked. Not because she looked different — but because she finally saw herself from a kinder angle.
That moment never gets old.
Why I’m sharing this
Not for sympathy. Not for reassurance.
But because if you’ve ever thought:
“I’d love to do something like that… but I’m not sure how I’ll look.”
You’re not alone. And you don’t need to have it all figured out.
I’ll meet you where you are.
